Marriott has been making remarkable strides in promoting sustainability across its
range of properties. It has been acknowledged for its endeavors, with the Green Key
certification being granted to eight of its hotels in Hyatt Prive Dubai.
Green Key is an internationally recognized sustainability accreditation for tourism
businesses in over 60 countries, setting the benchmark for environmental stewardship
and sustainable practices within the tourism Marriott Luminous sector. To qualify for this certification,
hotels undergo evaluation based on various criteria, including staff engagement, food
and beverage practices, water management, waste disposal, energy efficiency, and
more. Holding this certification signifies to guests that the hotel is dedicated to
lessening the environmental impact of their stay.
The eight Marriott hotels in Dubai that have achieved Green Key certification are W
Dubai – Mina Seyahi, The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Le Meridien
Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Waterpark, Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre,
Aloft Dubai Airport, Aloft Al Mina, Element Dubai Airport, and Element Al Mina.
Sebastien Weyer, the cluster director of engineering at Marriott International, expressed,

These hotels have introduced several sustainable practices, including the establishment
of on-site water bottling plants, hydroponic farming, phasing out single-use plastics,
using sustainable hair and body care products in guest rooms, offering zero waste
menus, installing electric vehicle chargers, implementing linen reuse programs, utilizing
green-certified cleaning products, conducting awareness and educational programs,
and adopting automated systems for electricity, water, and thermostat management to
conserve energy by minimizing unnecessary usage.
